The Hermès Kelly bag was originally designed as a saddle bag for riders heading to hunting events. In 1930, Robert Dumas, son-in-law of Émile Hermès and his successor, created a new, smaller model, giving it a trapezoidal shape with two triangular gussets, a flap, a handle, and two straps.
